Charley’s passion is developing people as leaders, focusing on confidence, improving personal presence, presentational skills and impact within a team.
Charley has worked as a broadcaster for the BBC for more than 25 years and is also a formally-trained Meyler Campbell executive coach, focusing on non-directive coaching. She has worked with senior executives in banking & finance, retail, media, health, management consulting, manufacturing, law and the voluntary sector – and she brings interview and assessment expertise to Board and Leadership Evaluations.
Charley started her career as a newspaper journalist drawing on her skills as a communicator to find and tell people’s stories. She moved to BBC radio as a news reporter and breakfast show presenter, and progressed to reporting, presenting and anchoring the main TV news programmes on BBC London and BBC World. Her interviewees have included prime ministers, international sports stars and global business CEOs.
Charley’s people-skills mean she now leads the news-gathering team at BBC London, developing original stories and strands for an audience of 1 million people. She is also working as part of the BBC Executive Coaching Programme and within the BBC’s People Development Team – creating programmes and training on flexible working, gender balance, and parental returnees.
Charley is an active member of the Pelham Street team providing specialised coaching expertise in leadership and leadership communication.
